ISE 525 Design of Experiments

Process Optimization Using Designed Experiments

This course is intended for individuals that have an interest in process or product development. We will discuss techniques for

· investigating relationships between process/product design choices and performance

· building mathematical models to predict process/product performance

· finding the best process/product design

· compromising multiple performance criteria

· designing to protect performance against uncontrollable influences

Both traditional (statistical experiment design, empirical model building, ridge analysis) and non-traditional (Taguchi's robust engineering design) techniques will be discussed. Examples will be drawn from chemical, mechanical, and electrical design studies.
