ISE 525 Design of Experiments
Process Optimization Using Designed Experiments
This course is intended for individuals that have an interest in process or product development. We will discuss techniques for
·
investigating relationships between process/product design choices and performance·
building mathematical models to predict process/product performance·
finding the best process/product design·
compromising multiple performance criteria·
designing to protect performance against uncontrollable influencesBoth traditional (statistical experiment design, empirical model building, ridge analysis) and non-traditional (Taguchi's robust engineering design) techniques will be discussed. Examples will be drawn from chemical, mechanical, and electrical design studies.
