• Celluloid was used for dentures and film.
	• Problem with cellulose nitrate was it was flammable.  Cellulose trinitrate is explosive.
	• 1880 Joseph Swan extruded cellulose nitrate into threads, which were carbonized and used as electric light filaments.
	• 1862 Alexander Parkes made cellulose nitrate more pliable by adding castor oil and later camphor.
	•Rayon was the first synthetic fiber. It was made from cellulose. Cellulose was dissolve in chemicals and force under pressure from small holes to produce fibers.
