• Tetrafluroethylene is ethylene with the four hydrogen replaced with fluorine atoms.
	• It is resistant to acids and is used to make non-stick frying pans.
	• Teflon was also discovered by accident.
	• Fluorine is very electronegative and bonds very tightly to the carbon. Since the compound is very stable nothing bonds to it and gives rise to its non-stick property.
	• Stainmaster carpets are also based on using Teflon to make the carpet fibers stain resistant.
	• It is also used as a dry lubricant.
